The Making of the raczilla and Flak tee!
Been a while since I've done a blog post, so I thought I'd do a special one. This is dedicated to Will (raczilla) and Stacey (Flak), both who have been doing an extraordinary job for the Epic Games Community. I wanted to do something for the both of them, and so I thought that a personalized tee would be great.
For the past few months, I had been working the project, telling myself, "Hey, what would rac and Flak look like if they were in a COG suit?" Slowly, one sketch at a time, I began to throw small ideas here and there, seeing how it would probably turn out. Here's a collage of some of the ideas I began to throw out:
I first tried it out with colors, but I already disliked how it turned out with the markers to begin with. Then I tried to render the characters in my usual style; again, I started to hate how it turned out:
Since it was going on a t-shirt, I thought that a more graphic approach would work. Slowly, I worked, getting comments and crits so that I get everything to look 'raczilla and Flak' like.
And the final result:
Again, thanks for checking out this post. The Epic Community would not be how it is today if it were not for the both of them!

Sketchbook Dump - #20
Who are these? Not sure, but a strange, yet pretty interesting idea a friend of mine brought up. Say hello to the "Robo-Owls".

Sketchbook Dump - #11: Javik
Javik's a cool guy. Yep. Like, really cool.
Also got a Wacom Cintiq 24HD. Sketched Javik on it to get myself familiar with the new toy. Wanted to keep it black and white.

A big thanks to the Epic Games Community!
Today, Epic named me Epic Gamer of the Month for my contributions in the art community. There are simply no words to express how great this is.
I dreamed of working on things that I would never imagine. The opportunity and the chance to be a part of the Team Epic Gamers has always been a big part in my life since I first started with them. It has always been a pleasure to deliver great content to fans, and I will continue to do so in the coming days. This is only one step closer to reaching that goal.
A big thanks to Will Kinsler (Community Manager) and Stacey Conley (Community Coordinator) for making this all possible. And a huge thanks to Chris Perna (Art Director) for the personal video message he recorded for me.
Check the feature out at the Official Epic Community page. Again, I thank Epic, and the whole community for the support. And this is why I do, and will continue to do what I love.

Sketchbook Dump - #5: Garrus
I posted this earlier on Twitter, but if you haven't seen it yet, here it is. Played a bit of the Mass Effect 3 demo yesterday, and well... :)
As you can see, I was working on some Geography homework... ;) Gotta love Garrus! One of my favorite video game characters of all time.
Here's the 5-minute quick sketch |
Refining it a bit. |
